Story: Untitled
Note: I found this old piece of paper in my stash of old junks. Where I place all of my ideas of stories that I didn't dare to finish. I can't remember when I wrote it and why. I changed some of the words, just to make it well.. somehow recent. hehe.
------------
“I don’t owe you anything...”
“...so don’t go asking me any favors.”
The words echoed in her head as silently she watches the sun sets down from the horizon. Sounds of traffic down the street started to rumble and she snapped back to reality when someone called her.
“Maki... Maki”
“Hmm, oh... it’s just you.” She turned her head slightly looking at a young man standing next to her.
“What do you mean it’s just me?” The young man sighed and scratched his head then slowly sat next to her on the cold concrete steps of City Hall Library. “C’mon, don’t be so mean. I’m you’re friend.”
“...”
“You’re thinking about him again, aren’t you?” he nudged her slightly trying to get her attention.
“I... I can’t help it, Noel,” Maki hanged her head down. “He... he was my world, you know? Now... now that he’s gone. I... I don’t know what to do anymore. He was...”
“You’re life,” the young man finished her sentence while quickly reaching his arms, embracing her tight. “You life... is still yours, and you know that. Things will be better. You were standing on your own before even without him. I’m here, I’m your friend. I care for you, couldn’t that be enough? Just to make you live again?” Maki made a slight smile thinking how foolish it is, seeing her self wallowing from self pity but still she was being silent.
“Come... let’s watch a movie, my treat,” Noel pulled Maki up and they walked towards the nearby mall. “I heard Madagascar’s now showing.”
***
“Oh hey, there’s a smile,” Noel looked at Maki as she was smiling from the movie as they walked out of the movie theater. “I never thought of seeing that today.”
“Eh...” Maki looked at Noel feeling embarrassed, “thank you.”
“What’s that?”
“I said... thank you.”
----
That's the end of it. Maki was my nick name back in Highschool. For some ODD reason that's what one of my friends called me and I sort of grown attached to it. Using that name in most of my very short story clips. I changed the movie title to Madagascar since that was the recent Movie I've seen that made me forget my sadness. A friend of mine, Noel, pulled me out of my chair and made me watch that movie with him. One thing I am glad about this short clip story of mine is that, one should never forget to say thank you to someone who's there for you. who is a real FRIEND.
